Chiang Mai has to be ranked high for the most delicious, most affordable vegan food across the globe. The vegan spots in Chiang Mai are AMAZING & widely available in all different price ranges.
Want a 50 baht vegan Khao Soi, or a 250 baht gourmet vegan pizza? Chiang Mai has both! I started eating almost a full vegetarian and vegan diet due to the awesome, affordable options here. I felt healthier and better about the impact I leave on the world.
The veggie scene in Chiang Mai taught me to love tofu! I was one of the people who thought it was so gross, that is until I had it smothered in a peanut curry. The creative veggie-lovin’ Thai chefs also surprised me with delicious ‘meat-like’ options such as mushrooms and soy.
Before moving to Chiang Mai I ate a lot of meat. I didn’t particularly love the taste, and I also always felt a little weird about consuming animals. BUT that’s what was culturally normal in my home, so that’s what I did. No shade to meat eaters, I still occasionally eat chicken and fish.
But if you’re looking for some healthier options in the awesome city of Chiang Mai, then consider my favorite restaurants below. The right way to travel through Thailand is to eat through Thailand!

Let’s dive into my favorite restaurants that are either all vegetarian / vegan, or have great vegan options on the menu.
#1: May Kaidee
Coming in at the #1 spot in the list (& in my heart) is May Kaidee located in the old city. This is my FAVORITE Thai restaurant in Chiang Mai, period. Serve me the steamed noodles with curry peanut sauce on my death bed, for real.
It’s a family-owned vegetarian spot that cooks every dish to order with the freshest ingredients. I often see them leave for the market for more ingredients when they run out. The veggies are soooo freaking good. This is the place that made me like tofu! Most dishes are between 70-100 baht.
My favorite dishes:
-Steamed noodles with curry peanut sauce
-Red curry w/rice
-Khao Haw Sarai (Sushi rice rolls)
-Banana flower salad
-Pumpkin hummus

A healthy, authentic vegan spot a little outside the old city, Alchemy Vegan is my go-to for a good lunch. Most dishes are ~150-250 baht.
Their paninis are soooooo good! I don’t know how they get the sourdough bread so nice & cripsy but it’s super yummy & I always feel so healthy after dining here.
Also, their vegan desserts like homemade churros & cakes are to-die-for! I especially love them as a lactose-intolerant girlie, because they don’t use any dairy products, which is hard to find in good desserts.
My favorite dishes:
-Mustard cheese panini
-Greek wrap
-Churros
-Carmel cheesecake

My friend recently showed me this hole-in-the-wall 86 Ramen spot in Nimman, & wow was I so impressed that I went back the next day lol! The restaurant isn’t fully vegan but the vegan ramen (using oat milk) is soooo freaking yummy.
The vibes are so chill & cute, it’s an authentic ramen spot, … & even better that it’s veggie-friendly!
Get the spicy garlic vegan ramen for 179 baht. It’s so filling & absolutely delicious. I could drink the broth all darn day, & the noodles are homemade and addicting.

My favorite Mexican spot in Chiang Mai, Salsa Kitchen, has excellent vegan options to fulfill your taco cravings while here in Thailand. There are two locations but I usually go to the one in Nimman. Most dishes are a bit pricey, ~200-350 baht. But the portions are huge and super filling.
